My Cosmo Skin Journey

I guess it's a natural thing for people to want what they do not have. I, for one, happen to have all the insecurities in the world and one of which would be my dark, uneven skin.

A brief history on the side: I have severe contact dermatitis and skin asthma which causes me to have scars all over resulting from insect bites, scratch marks, and wounds. These bite scars can disappear from within months to over a couple of years. :( Sadly, I'm far from having the perfect skin.

Here's what I look like and this is how my skin is. (Taken April 2013) I still pretty much have the same skintone, or perhaps a tad darker due to recent beach trips, a slight weight loss, and daily fieldwork from my current job.

From my college graduation (April), I started working on my first job this July. My job entails 80% fieldwork, which means I am almost always under the sun for hours during the day. By the time I was put on the field, I began worrying about how my already imperfect and dark skin will turn out after months of being painstakingly put under sun exposure. So I decided that I should do something to prevent my skin from darkening, and to actually remedy my uneven skintone.

I bought my first bottle of Cosmo Skin L-Glutathione on September 15, 2013. I purchased it for Php 2, 425 in SM Megamall Department Store after about a week of reading about it on online forums and reviews. :)

Accodring to the product's website and label,  Cosmo Skin Glutathione is composed of:

500 mg Reduced L-Glutathion
100 mg Alpha Lipoic Acid
100 mg Ascorbic Acid

And the suggested use would be to take 1 capsule daily or as advised by your health care professional.

However, the following is recommended to see a difference in your skin tone in just 7 days:

Regimen:

Morning:

1. Take 1 capsule of Cosmo Skin Glutathione
2. Take 1 capsule Cosmo CEE (Viatmin C)  (Take it 30mins or 1 hour before  OR after meal, if your tummy is not hypersensitive to acidity you may take it with empty stomach, this is because the    food may alter the efficacy of the product.)

Evening:

1. Take 1 capsule of Cosmo Skin Glutathione
2. Take 1 capsule of Cosmo CEE  (Vitamin C)  (Take it 30mins or 1 hour before  OR after meal, if your tummy is not hypersensitive to acidity you may take it with empty stomach, this is because the    food may alter the efficacy of the product.)

Before bedtime:

Take 1 capsule of Cosmo Skin Grape Seed Extract.

I have more-or-less followed the recommended regimen; however, instead of drinking Cosmo Cee with the Glutathione, I opted to take it with a generic 500mg Ascorbic Acid instead. I figured that I'm going to save a lot this way, and I've read in a lot of reviews that it would work just the same. I was also given a trial pack (7 capsules) of Cosmo Skin Grape Seed Extra which I managed to finish during my first week.

It is only during my second week that I bought sunblock with SPF 80 that I apply every 3-4 hours (too far apart, I think :( ). I figured that the glutathione may not take effect if I am constantly under the sun, so I really need a very protective sunscreen. Do you think spf 80 is enough?

Anyway, I am now on my fourth week of taking Cosmo Skin. My verdict so far?

  • My legs look silky and whiter. However, they don't get exposed to the sun, unlike my face and arms.
  • I haven't noticed a drastic change in my skin color (I blame my fieldwork :( ). But my face, arms, and decollete are in fact brighter and give-off a healthy glow.
  • I now look decent even without make-up. :) My face looks brighter, thus, requiring only sunscreen and BB cream. My former usual routine was my MAC Studio Finish concealer, then layers of my Revlon Colorstay liquid foundie.
  • For the medical benefits of  glutathione, I noticed a change in my health also. I rarely get sick/colds/fever (I used to have colds or fever every other week or so) and I don't run out of energy despite a long day of fieldwork and officework. :)
So far, so good, I guess. Although I haven't noticed a significant change in my skintone, I shall continue using Cosmo Skin for a 3-month trial period. I shall give an update once I finish my first bottle and upon purchasing my second one.

This is a picture of my face taken September 4, 2013. :) No filter.

So long!
